1908 Pierce-Arrow Great Arrow Navigation
Four years after building its first car, the George N. Pierce Co. built the largest Pierce-Arrow, the 7-foot-tall Great Arrow model. The Model 65-Q Great Arrow had a 135-inch wheelbase and weighed over 4,000 pounds. Prices ranged from $6,500 to $7750. Pierce cars were now aimed firmly at a very wealthy market. Pierce-Arrow's prestige continued to grow in 1909 when President Taft ordered two Pierce-Arrows, a Brougham and a Landaulette, for the White House. President Taft was the first President to use an automobile for official occasions. This tradition would continue into the Roosevelt administration, when the last Pierce-Arrows, 1935 models, were ordered by the White House.
This later Great Arrow 7 Passenger Suburban has the larger 6-cylinder engine.
For 1908, the Pierce Great Arrow was available in several wheelbase sizes, including a 112-inch, 124-inch, 130-inch, and a large 135-inch. Power was from either four or six-cylinder engines that ranged in horsepower from 30 - 60 bhp.
