1973 Porsche 911E Targa

A first generation 911, this 1973 911 was produced during the last year of the long-nose 911s. The 1972 and 1973 model years are called the 2.4 liter engines despite a displacement closer to 2.3 liters (2,341 cc). The S and E models used the Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The 1972 and 1973 models also utilized the 915 transmission with a traditional 'H' shift pattern rather than the dog-leg first-gear pattern seen on the earlier 911 models. Porsche built a total of 1,055 911E Targa models. The interior has the Hounds Tooth (Pepita) seat inserts that were available with the standard leatherette interior.

This car was built on September 1st of 1972; options include light alloy (Fuchs) wheels, wheel well moldings, Blaupunkt radio, comfort package and tinted glass. The U.S. front bumper guards were removed and the headlights were switched to the Bosch H1 units making this car appear more like a European 911. The car is lowered roughly one inch.

It was purchased in 2008 from Larry Chester of Deerfield, IL. When the current owner acquired the car from Hans Achter of Connecticut, it was red. The current owner restored the original factory Emerald (Kelly) Green paint, added the sport seats and removed the air conditioning. The most recent work was a full engine and transmission rebuild by John Truman Enterprises of Thompson, Ohio.
