1909 Pierce-Arrow Model 36 Touring

This car (chassis number 30275) was originally purchased from J.W. Maguire's Boston showroom by Harold Murdock, Vice President of the National Shawmut Bank of Boston. He drove the car for ten years before trading it to an acquaintance in settlement of a debt estimated at $300. The second owner was respected Boston lawyer William Thompson, who kept it at his Chestnut Hill home and then the family farm in New Hampshire. There, the car's body was removed and the vehicle was used as a farm truck until 1934 when the body and chassis were reunited and put into storage. In 1962 the car was shipped to Colorado for restoration. Thompson's grandson sold the car to the present owners in 1990. The car retains its original cast aluminum body and leather upholstery and is thought to be the only surviving 1909 36-horsepower, five-passenger touring in the world.
