1930 Stutz Model M Speedster

The Stutz Company, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, entered automobile production in 1911. The car was immediately entered the Indianapolis 500, where it finished 11th. The Stutz Series M was introduced in 1929. As indicated by its Serial and Engine number, this is an early 1930 Stutz Boat tail. It has recently undergone a three-year-long restoration by the current owner that was completed in 2014. Stutz used a 322 cubic-inch engine, producing 113 horsepower and turning a four-speed manual gearbox. A similar car, sans fenders, and windshield, competed in the 1930 Indianapolis 500, finishing 10th. This was a major accomplishment for a factory-built car to be raced competitively at this level.
