1967 ISO Rivolta GT Navigation
Founded in the 1930s, Iso (originally named Isothermos) produced refrigeration units. After the war, Renzo Rivolta had taken the reigns and in 1953, refounded the company as Iso AutoVeicoli with the primary purpose of producing motorcars. Their first product was a little 'bubble-car' known as the Isetta. They later licensed the car to BMW which proved very profitable for both companies.
In 1963, the Iso Rivolta was introduced. It had a modern contemporary design with Italian styling by Giugiaro and American horsepower from Chevrolet sourced 327 V8s. It was a Grand Tourer with a suspension comprised of an uneven front linkage setup connected to a sturdy sway bar. The rear suspension comprised of twin trailing arms combined with De Dion rear axle and Watt's linkage. Coils, shocks and disc brakes were found on all four corners.
This particular example was given a complete restoration that was completed in 2012. It is finished in a rich coffee-brown metallic with a soft beige leather interior that covers the seats, door panels, and the dash panel. The black-leather wrapped factory steering wheel is mounted ahead of a full set of gages that are all functional. The 327 cubic-inch overhead valve V8 engine with 4-barrel carburetion offers 250 horsepower. There is a four-speed manual transmission and four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.By Daniel Vaughan | Apr 2018
