The Porsche 911 received a lengthened wheelbase in 1969 which aided in improving the vehicles handling. In 1970 the engine underwent the first of many enlargements - to 2.2 liters. The engine in the 911 S produced 180 horsepower, increasing to 190 bhp with the introduction of the 2.4-liter engine for 1972.
This example is a 911E powered by a 2,341 SOHC flat 6-cylinder engine fitted with Bosch fuel injection and offering 165 horsepower. There is a five-speed manual transmission and four-wheel disc brakes. It was completed at the Zuffenhausen Porsche factory in July of 1973 and equipped for the United States market. Its early history is not fully known, but it was part of a private collection for over a decade before coming into the garage of the current caretaker.
