Rolls-Royce produced the Phantom II from 1929 to 1935 with an improved engine over its predecessor the New Phantom. Rolls-Royce never found it necessary to publish horsepower figures; it was assumed to be more than adequate. As introduced, the Phantom II was remarkably fast for its size and an exceptionally fine automobile, yet Rolls-Royce sought continual improvements with more than 60 running changes made to its specifications. A total of 1,767 were produced during the model run.
According to Rolls-Royce Foundation records, chassis number 211AJS was ordered from Rolls-Royce on March 20th of 1931, and fitted with a Keswick (town car) body. It was delivered to its first owner, A.C. Burrage of Boston, on December 31. It was re-bodied in the 1950s with a Henley body in the style of Brewster. The Henley is a coupe-roadster which features roll-up windows.
