1966 Fiat Dino Navigation
1966 was the first year of the front-engined Fiat Dino - two body styles a Coupe and an open Spider - and it came with the Ferrari 'sponsored' but Fiat assembled V6 of 2-liters. It waited until 1969 to be enlarged to 2.4-liters. Pininfarina designed the Spider, Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone, the coupe. Dino was, of course, the nickname of Enzo Ferrari's son Alfredo who died in 1956. The all-aluminum DOHC 160 horsepower V6 coupled with a 5-speed transmission created a very spirited drive to push the near 2,800 lb steel-bodied (aluminum trunk lid not withstanding) Spider to well over 100 mph. Only 1,163 2-liter Spiders were assembled in Fiat's Rivalta di Torino plant making them really very rare today.
