This 1957 Nash Metropolitan is a Series III example with a two-tone color scheme and equipped with a 1,490cc overhead valve inline 4-cylinder engine breathing through a single Zenith downdraft carburetor. It develops 52 horsepower at 4,600 RPM and is backed by a three-speed manual gearbox. There are four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, an independent front suspension with coil springs, and a live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. The exterior is finished in Coral Red and Snowberry White paint. The bumpers had been re-chromed, and all the glass is original. The interior is finished in houndstooth and there is a radio, radiator, and heater.
This Series III Metropolitan has been given a ground-up, rotisserie restoration. After the work was completed, it won both Best in Class and People's Choice awards at the Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance in 2013. At the Metropolitan Owners' Club of North America meet in 2015, it was certified as Concours Class Gold – becoming one of only five such recognized Metropolitans.
The current owner acquired this Metropolitan in 2016 for his wife, and the car has received minimal post-restoration miles.By Daniel Vaughan | Nov 2021
