1960 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II Long Wheelbase Saloon

This long-wheelbase Silver Cloud II was ordered new through British Motor Cars of San Francisco but later switched to Rolls-Royce's American distributor J.S. Inskip. Its first owner was Howard Johnson's Inc. of Rockefeller Center in New York City for use by the hotel and restaurant chain founder Howard Deering Johnson. It originally wore a Masons Black paint scheme with Grey leather interior and came optioned with a radio, radio, Cadillac antennae, part refrigeration, electric windows, and Sundym glass. The Rolls-Royce was delivered to Rock Center in December of 1960 as a 1961 example and remained in the care of the Howard Johnson company until July of 1964 when it was traded in for another vehicle.

The Silver Cloud II then became part of the motor pool of Forbes, Inc. for a year before being traded again going north to Hunton Motors in Bloomingburg, New York. From there, it later went to Charles Fleck of Cleveland, Ohio, then to Lloyd David of Houston, Texas in 1969, back to the Midwest with John Richter of Winnetka, Illinois in 1972, and then returned to the northeast with Ronald Aliano of Norwich, Connecticut in 1982.

At some point, the car was given a restoration to the white over light brown/orange paint scheme it currently wears, and the interior was changed to tan leather.

The car has been in the care of its current owner for approximately a decade and has been on static display ever since.

This Silver Cloud II is equipped with a 6,223cc overhead valve V8 engine with twin SU carburetors and delivers 185 horsepower. There is a four-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, and an independnet front suspension with semi-elliptical leaf springs at the rear.
