1967 Mercedes-Benz 250 SL Coupe Roadster

This Italian-market Mercedes-Benz 250 SL was delivered new on March 7, 1967, and its 2.5-liter engine was paired with a rare five-speed manual transmission with a 4.08:1 rear axle. Of the 5,196 examples fo the 250 SL produced, as few as 112 examples were factory-fitted with the five-speed. Additionally, it has a hardtop, power steering, black soft-top, adn special-order Anthracite Grey Metallic (DB 172) paint. Early in its life, it was exported to Southern California. In 2009, it entered the previous owner's care, and at the time, it was disused, but well-preserved and a highly original candidate for restoration. Jared King of Transcendental Finishes in Prescott, Arizona, was subsequently commissioned to head the multi-year restoration, which included additional mechanical work and a full engine rebuild from Metric Motors of Canoga Park, California. The work reached nearly $60,000. Upon completion, it wore its original color of Anthracite Grey Metallic over a period-correct light red leather (204) cabin complete with matching square-weave carpeting.

Currently, this 250 SL has European headlights, slim bumpers, metric instrumentation, Becker Europa radio, and the absence of side indicator markers. There is a Kuhlmeister under-dash air-conditioning system sourced by Bud's Benz, Inc. of Douglasville, Georgia.
