1962 Chevrolet Corvette C1 Convertible Roadster

For 1962, the standard engine was the 327 cubic-inch V8 which promised 250 horsepower. More power was available for those willing to pay the extra cost. The largest engine in the arsenal was a 327 cubic-inch version with optional fuel injection that produced 360 horsepower. Zero-to-sixty took less than six seconds and quarter-mile times were in the 14.5-second range at 104 mph. The top speed was 150 mph.

This Corvette Roadster is painted in factory-correct Roman Red paint and is a fuel-injected, numbers-matching example. The interior is red and there is a factory-supplied white vinyl soft and optional red hardtop with plastic windows.

14,531 Corvettes were produced in 1962 and only a handful were fitted with the fuel-injected engine. In 2008 this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster was brought to RM Auctions' Vintage Motor Cars of Meadow Brook. It was estimated to sell for $80,000-$100,000. A high bid of $69,300, including the buyer's premium, was enough to secure new ownership. The lot was sold.

In 2010, this Chevrolet Corvette was offered for sale at the Gooding & Company Auction held in Amelia Island, Florida. The car was expected to sell for $70,000 - $90,000. As bidding came to a close, the car had been sold for $79,200, inclusive of the buyer's premium.
