1967 Jaguar Mark II Sedan

The Jaguar MKI, having been introduced in October of 1955, was a brilliant automobile that satisfied the American market demands. It had a 2.4-liter engine that was later enlarged to 3.4-liters in 1957. They were great cars but did have their shortcomings, often criticized as being 'clumsy.' The Mark II Saloon, along with the S-Type, resolved these issued. It was introduced at the London Motor Show at Earls Court in October of 1959. It was based on the Mark I, but improved both aesthetically and mechanically. The overall weight was reduced and the interior was completely redesigned. Leather seats were standard until 1967 when Jaguar offered it as optional in an effort to reduce the cost of the vehicle. Three engine sizes were offered including the new 3.8-liter version of the XK engine rated at 220 horsepower.

This Mark II Saloon is painted in Opalescent Silver Blue and was delivered and purchased new in Beverly Hills, California, and owned by one family until 2006. The odometer reads a mere 30,833 miles. Inside, there is blue leather upholstery and marbled wood grain o the dash and doors. It came from the factory equipped with power steering, power disc brakes, and factory air conditioning. There is a four-speed all synchromesh gearbox with overdrive and four-wheel power disc brakes.

In 2009, this MKII Saloon was offered for sale at the Houston Classic Auction in Seabrook, Texas presented by Worldwide Auctioneers. The lot was estimated to sell for $40,000 - $50,000. It was purchased by a phone bidder for the sum of $37,000, plus buyer's premium.
