1906 Ford Model F

The Model F was built as a two-door, four-passenger touring car. A runabout was also available, through a different letter model. A race version of the Model K set a 24-hour speed record in 1906. The car covered 1135 miles, averaging 47.2 miles per hour at Ormond Beach, Florida.

The 1906 Ford Model F was similar to the previous year with power coming from an opposed two-cylinder engine with a cast-iron block, mechanical valve lifters, a 128 cubic-inch displacement, and developed ten horsepower. Power was sent to the rear wheels via a two-speed Planetary transmission with a cone clutch and floor shift controls. The wheelbase measured 82 inches, the Model N measured 84 inches, and the Model K had both a 114- and 120-inch platform. The Model K had a six-cylinder engine displacing 405 cubic inches and delivering 40 horsepower, and the Model N had a 149 cubic-inch four with approximately 15 horsepower.

The total production of all 1906 Ford models was either 2,798 or 8,729 units. The Ford Motor Company records display both figures.
