1969 Porsche 911

Porsche introduced the 911 'B' series in 1969 and in comparison to its predecessor, the 911 L, it had a slightly longer wheelbase (by 2.2 inches) and additional luxurious accouterments. They were designed by Ferdinand Porsche and produced by Porsche AG in Stuttgart, Germany until 1973. The 911 E version featured the 2.0-liter rear-mounted, air-cooled, flat-six engine and upgraded fuel injection or 'Einspritzung,' hence the 'E' designation. The 911E also received Boge self-leveling front struts.

Additional changes witness on the 1969 Porsche included better weight distribution, flared wheel arches allowing for wider tires, and different axle half shafts. The lineup included the 911T, 911E, and 911S in both coupe and Targa body styles. The 911S was the high-performance version fitted with the 190 horsepower 2.0-liter engine and offered only a five-speed manual gearbox. The 911T and 911E could be purchased with either a five-speed, our-speed, or Sportomatic. The 911T had an overhead-cam six-cylinder horizontally-opposed air-cooled engine displacing 121.5 cubic-inches and produced 102 (SAE) horsepower. It had twin Weber carburetors while the other 911E and 911S both had Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The 911T had a base price of $5,800 for the coupe while the Targa version sold for $6,300.

For 1969, Porsche produced approximately 14,446 examples of the B-Series.
