1977 Pontiac LeMans

For 1977, the mid-size Pontiac LeMans received modifications to its front-end along with changes to the engines. The base engine was the 231 cubic-inch V6, except for the Safari wagon which came standard with the 231 350-CID V8. All models could be purchased with the 6.6-liter V8.

The LeMans was available as a 2- or 4-door hardtop, LeMans Safari Station Wagon, LeMans Can Am Coupe, LeMans Sport Coupe hardtop, and Grand LeMans Safari Station Wagon. The base LeMans models had quad rectangular headlamps. The grille was made up of heavy vertical bars, forming six sections on each side of a center divider. The divider formed a point where a tri-angular Pontiac emblem was positioned. Parking and signal lamps were located on the outer ends of the twin bumper slots. The Grand LeMans models had a similar front-end appearance, but its grille section had a horizontal divider forming a pattern of square holes on each side.

New options for 1977 included 15-inch cast-aluminum wheels, wire wheel covers, and new-style deluxe wheel covers. A new AM/FM radio with a digital clock was available on the Grand LeMans models. Sport Coupe body styles could be fitted with the LeMans GT option which included distinctive two-tone paint, bold striping, Rally RTS handling package, and body-color Rally II wheels.

Standard equipment included a Turbo-Hydra-Matic transmission, power brakes, body-color Rally II wheels, stabilizer bars in the front and rear, rubber bumper strips, body-color dual-sport mirrors, and variable-ratio power steering. Available options included a radio, air-condition-systems, bucket seats, or full-width seats.
