1990 Swift DB5

Swift Engineering Inc. was founded in 1983. Within its first year, it built a racing car that went on to win the Formula Ford SCCA National Championship. This confirmed and validated the company's mission statement: 'the design, manufacture and sale of successful racing cars, and the concurrent creation of an internationally renowned engineering company with recognized capabilities in aerodynamics, advanced composites, mechanical engineering and precision, limited volume, and rapid turnaround manufacturing.'

To date, the company has created over 450 cars that have won over 40 national and international racing championships. While producing this string of competitive successes, Swift has produced a wide range of cars from amateur category racing cars, like its Formula Ford, to professional, world-class racing cars, like its Toyota Atlantic chassis and the race-winning 250 mph CART Champ Car, which, true to form, won its first race in 1997.
