1967 Mongoose Indy Racer 1967 Mongoose Indy Racer 1967 Mongoose Indy Racer George Morris and Dave Laycock built this 1967 Mongoose for the Vel's Parnelli Jones racing team. It is shown restored to its 1968 livery, when it was driven at Indianapolis by George Snyder, who finished 30th. The car is powered by a Ford 4-cam 255-cubic inch V8 engine. It is displayed with Parnelli Jones' original Gerhardt trailer which was used with the car.

This Indianapolis car is known as a Mongoose and was built in 1967 by Dave Laycock. The power plant is a rear-mounted 4-cam Foyt Ford V8. The Mongoose qualified for the 1967 Indianapolis 500 at 164.256 mph with Geroge Snider at the wheel. The Mongoose started 10th and Lloyd Ruby replaced George Snider the next day after rain delayed the race after 45 miles. In the 100th lap, the Mongoose was involved in a collision with Lee Roy Yarbrough. In 1968 George Snider qualified the car at 162.264 mph and started 29th, though went out of the race after nine laps due to an oil leak. The Mongoose is restored as retired and driven by George Snider at Indianapolis for owner Parnelli Jones in 1968.
