Roth Racing is pleased to announce that rookie Jay Howard will be back behind the wheel as the driver of the #24 car for the IndyCar Series race this coming weekend at Watkins Glen.2008 Dallara Roth Racing Indycar
Howard, the 2006 IndyPro Series Champion, ran the first four races of the season for Roth Racing, posting equal best finishes of 13th in Motegi and Kansas. His only road course event for the team was in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he was running a strong 9th in the final laps and battling Dan Wheldon for 8th when they made contact, dropping Jay to a 14th place finish.

MARGARET ROTH (President, Roth Racing)
'We're glad to welcome Jay back for the next race at Watkins Glen. Jay has a wealth of road racing experience and was well on his way to a top 10 in St. Pete before a late race incident, so we look forward to a good weekend from him at The Glen.'

JAY HOWARD (#24, Roth Racing)
'I am over the moon to be back in the #24 Roth Racing car for Watkins Glen. It's been agonizing not being behind the wheel these past 5 races but now it's my turn again and I hope to be able to pick up where I left off. I had good runs in my last 3 races and St. Pete was going to be a high water mark for the team until I had late contact with Dan Wheldon. I am as hungry as ever and hope to build on that performance in St. Pete and give the team it's first ever top 10 finish.'

A Tough Night at Richmond for Roth Racing

For the first time since the season opening race at Homestead, neither Roth Racing driver made it to the checkered flag as both John Andretti and Marty Roth were sidelined before the halfway point of Saturday nights SunTrust Indy Challenge in Richmond, Virginia.

John Andretti's eventful evening began from the 12th starting position and, like a week earlier in Iowa, he found he was able to make passes on the tight oval. Únfortunately, when compared to Iowa, the racing line was a little narrower at Richmond and Andretti was involved in a pair of incidents.

The first happened on lap 29 when he and A.J. Foyt touched wheels sending Foyt into the wall. Andretti's car was not affected and he remained on track. He wasn't so lucky on lap 91 when, racing for position, he and Vitor Meira contacted each other putting both cars into the wall and out of the race. This was Andretti's first DNF of the season.

2008 Dallara Roth Racing IndycarMarty Roth began the race from the 15th position but it was apparent early that his car wasn't handling as well as it did in qualifying. Although he remained on the lead lap for the first 52 laps of the race, an unscheduled pit stop shortly after being lapped cost him an additional 2 laps to the field. Únfortunately the changes made to the car didn't help the handling and, on lap 117, while running in 16th, Marty retired the car.

The series now switches into road and street course mode as 5 of the season's remaining 8 races, beginning this coming weekend at Watkins Glen, take place on road or temporary street circuits.

Andretti Just Misses The Top 10 in Iowa

2008 Dallara Roth Racing Indycar
John Andretti had a great drive today in Iowa, moving up from his 23rd starting position to challenge in the top 10 for most of the race before slipping to an 11th place finish.2008 Dallara Roth Racing Indycar
Due to qualifying being rained out the starting grid was set by points so Andretti had to start 23rd in the 24-car field. From the green he quickly moved up and by lap 60 of 250 he was 10th. Running 7th by lap 160 he came in for his 4th pit stop of the day and the team decided to only add fuel, no tires, but a problem with the fueling process led to a lengthy stop and dropped the team to the back of the lead lap. From there Andretti worked his way back up into the top 10 again but fell to 11th at the finish.

JOHN ANDRETTI (#24, Roth Racing)
'I thought it was a good race. We had a really fast car, but this one may have been our most competitive race together because we could really race hard with people. It's just unfortunate that we weren't as good at the end as we were at the beginning, and we know why, but that's all part of a team growing up. We'll learn from our mistakes and go on. As long as we can have fast cars we can fix the rest of it.'

2008 Dallara Roth Racing Indycar
LARRY CÚRRY (Team Manager, Roth Racing)
'It was a good run for us today. It was unfortunate that we had the issue in the pit, getting fuel into the car that one time, but all in all we had a good car. We raced as high as 7th, and from 23rd, then went back to 15th and raced it back into the top 10. You don't do that at tracks like this unless you've got a good car and we got a good result.'

2008 Dallara Roth Racing Indycar
Marty Roth and the #25 car did not compete because the car suffered severe damage in a Saturday morning practice crash, caused by a suspension piece breaking, and couldn't be repaired in time. Marty will be back next weekend in Richmond.
