1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 at 2012 The Classics at the Trump Taj Mahal
February 24, 2012 by Worldwide GroupFive Gold MCA and SAAC Awards in the all NOS Trailered Division Numbers matching drivetrain with all original body panels Fully restored to factory stock in 2000 by Ed Mayer Original build sheet accompanies the car Numbers matching 429 cid V8, factory Toploader four-speed manual transmission, Multiple Division 1 SAAC and MCA Gold Award winner; wheelbase: 108' The Boss 429 is one of the rarest and most desirable muscle cars ever, with its very existence tied to Ford's participation in NASCAR. The Blue Oval needed an engine to compete with the Chrysler 426 Hemi, and the rules required a 500 vehicle production run, so records show that 499 1970 Boss 429s were produced. Kar Kraft of Dearborn was hired to modify the suspension and widen the engine compartment to accept the big V8, and the experts say the actual output of the cars was well over 500 HP. This spectacular Grabber Blue Boss (KK 2432) was nut and bolt restored to the highest standard in 2000 by Ed Mayer, one of the Head Judges for the MCA and a well known expert on the Boss, utilizing all original body panels and exclusively NOS parts. The entire drivetrain is numbers matching, every mark, nut and bolt is correct, and the car has the hardware to prove the accuracy of the workmanship. It has won multiple Division 1 Gold Awards – that's the trailered and all NOS category – at both MCA and SAAC Judging meets - most recently, the MCA National Meet in 2011. These are the highest awards a car can achieve, and every time it was entered, on five separate occasions, this Boss brought home the Gold. This two owner car comes complete with the original build sheet, and is as clean and correct as any Boss 429 we've ever seen. If you've ever wanted to own the very best, this is a prime opportunity.
