Pontiac produced 43,691 Star Chiefs in 1960 with just 166 examples having a synchromesh gearbox while the rest were given a Hydra-Matic. Body styles include a sedan, 4-door Vista Hardtop, and a 2-door Sport Sedan. The sedan was the most popular with 23,038 examples sold. 5,797 were the Sport Sedan. The Star Chief rested on the long-wheelbase platform and was powered by an overhead valve V8. They had an electric clock, Deluxe wheel discs, full carpeting, right-hand ashtrays, turn signals, oil filter, and dual-speed wipers. They had Star Chief fender scripts and four stylized stars at the rear of the lower beltline moldings. Pricing began at $2,930 for the two-door Sport Sedan and rose to $3,130 for the Vista Hardtop.
