1988 Chevrolet Beretta

The Chevrolet Beretta was introduced in early 1987 and for the 1988 model year, there were few changes. It was a front-wheel-drive two-door coupe that was in production from 1987 through 1996. Trim levels included the base, CL, GT, GTU, Indy, GTZ, and Z26.

Power was from a 2-liter four-cylinder engine or the optional 2.8-liter V6. The 2.0-liter version had throttle-body fuel injection, five main bearings, hydraulic valve lifters, an 8.3:1 compression ratio, and nearly 100 horsepower at 4,800 RPM. The 2.8-liter overhead-valve engine had multi-port fuel injection, a cast-iron block, an 8.9:1 compression ratio, and 130 horsepower at 4,700 RPM. A five-speed manual gearbox was standard and the suspension was comprised of MacPherson struts with coil springs in the front and a trailing twist axle with coil springs. Pricing began at $10,130 and a total of 169,171 were produced. Its wheelbase measured 103.4 inches and a length of 187.2 inches.
