1953 Chrysler Windsor

The Chrysler Windsor was produced from 1939 through the 1960s, with production ending in 1961 for the U.S. market and 1966 for Canada. Chrysler introduced its all-new post-war models in 1949 with styling that was 'boxier' than the competition. The interiors had a padded dashboard with a sponge rubber for safety. In 1953, Chrysler updated its entire line with new sheet metal and a one-piece curved windshield. The Windsor had a sloping roofline and styling changes to the grille and taillamps. Body styles on the standard wheelbase included a club coupe, sedan, and town and country wagon. An eight-passenger sedan was offered on the long wheelbase. Prices ranged from $2,550 for the club coupe and rose to $3,280 for the T&C Wagon and the 8-passenger sedan.

The Windsor Deluxe Series wore identical styling to the standard Windsor series and was offered in three body styles, a sedan, convertible, and Newport. Distinguishable features included the parking lamps located on a separate pod below the headlamps, rear fender stone shields, and taillamps with an integrated backup lens with an upper red lens divided vertically.

The Windsor Deluxe Sedan was the most popular body style, having a factory price of $2,800, with 45,385 examples sold. The standard Windsor had 18,879 sales. 1,250 Deluxe convertibles and 5,642 Newports were sold. The Town and Country Wagon found 1,242 buyers.
