1913 Overland Model 71 1913 Overland Model 71 1913 Overland Model 71 The story of Overland is a rollercoaster ride typical of many of our nation's early automobile manufacturers. The Overland was advanced for its time. Early models featured a removable ignition plug that prevented auto theft when left unattended. Overland was in danger of collapsing in 1907. John Willys was a New York dealer with a $10,000 deposit on an order of 500 cars; stepped in and assumed company management. The newly reorganized Willys-Overland Company oscillated between the verge of bankruptcy and years of multi-million dollar profit. Production continued through the 1930s.
