Nichols went into this car-building endeavor with the intention of constructing inexpensive sports/racing cars. A series of models were produced between 1954 and 1959, these included the Mark IV and the Mark V. Between 1965 and 1966 Elva produced a very successful series of Mk 8 sports racers mostly with 1.8 liter BMW engines, modified from the 1.6 liter by John Nerus. Some of these were made with 1.15-liter Holbay-Ford engines.
