Mecum Summer Special Exceeds $30 Million in Sales for Third Consecutive Year

Total of 885 Lots Hammer Sold at Florida Collector Car Auction

Mecum Auctions, host of The World's Largest Collector Car Auction®, held its annual Summer Special auction this past weekend and achieved overall sales in excess of $30 million for the third year in a row. The event is held each summer in central Florida and was launched in response to the overwhelming and continued success of The World's Largest Collector Car Auction® held each January at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida. In total, the 2023 Summer Special auction saw 885 lots hammer sold throughout the four-day event for a total of $30.6 million.

Well reflecting the auction's varied lineup of offerings, the top 10 sales included a diverse array of vehicles overall, though the overriding theme was American-built muscle. The No. 1 top sale at the auction was America's beloved Ford GT, with a 2005 model (Lot S114.1) showing 2,921 miles selling for $456,500. Ford models ultimately served as bookends of the top 10 list with the No. 10 spot claimed by a 2021 Ford Shelby Super Snake Speedster (Lot S217) that sold for $187,000.

The lone European-built vehicle to make the top sellers list was a 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 (Lot S155.1) that sold for $242,000, which was followed by a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Coupe (Lot S161) that sold for $231,000. For lovers of vintage and classic cars, a 1968 Plymouth Road Runner (Lot S79) achieved $264,000, while a 1969 Dodge Super Bee Custom (Lot F109) sold for $220,000.
