1914 McIntyre Imp Model Z

Tandem Cyclecar
Chassis number: 7805
Engine number: 9304

This Model Z Tandem is one of only six McIntyre Imps known to survive. It has a 10-horsepower V-twin engine designed by William Stout and a four-speed gearbox. McIntyre Imps sold for $375, and the sales literature stated that they cost just 'a penny a mile' to run! In their day, over fifty companies built similar machines in America. With the coming of the similarly priced Ford Model T, however, they soon began to lose favor, and the days of the Cyclecar were numbered.

The McIntyre Company of Auburn, Indiana, produced vehicles from 1909 through 1915. The Company came into being when Kiblinger factory manager W.H. McIntyre bought out the Kiblinger high-wheeler company in 1909. The Kiblinger Company was in the midst of a patent-infringement lawsuit. The McIntyre Company produced a wide range of vehicles, including Autobuggys and light-duty trucks.
