The Chevrolet Cavalier is General Motor's best-selling passenger car and one of the ten best-selling cars in the Únited States. With refinements such as a premium amplified audio system and a new color added to Cavalier's already impressive list of standard equipment, Cavalier is poised for another successful year in 2001.'Cavalier has been very successful in attracting young buyers to Chevrolet, due to its standard equipment that even includes four-wheel antilock brakes,' says Steve Wagg, Cavalier brand manager.

For 2001 the Cavalier lineup will include four models: Cavalier Coupe, Cavalier Sedan, Cavalier LS Sedan and Cavalier Z24 Coupe.

CAVALIER STANDARD FEATÚRES

One of the reasons Cavalier is so successful is its high level of standard equipment at a reasonable price. Standard safety and security features include: dual front air bags, brake-transmission interlock on automatic-equipped cars, Daytime Running Lamps and a PASSlock™ theft-deterrent system. All Cavalier buyers enjoy standard features such as air conditioning, electric rear window defogger, front bucket seats, a full-folding rear seat and intermittent windshield wipers.
Moving up to the LS sedan and Z24 Coupe, standard features also include cruise control, power door locks, tilt-steering column, body-side moldings and an upgraded AM/FM stereo radio with CD player and TheftLock anti-theft system.
New for 2001, Indigo Blue Metallic is added to the exterior paint palette, while a CD radio is now included on Base models when the optional Preferred Equipment Group 1SB is ordered. The V1I Sport Package on the base coupe now includes the new 6-speaker premium amplified audio system with rear-woofer speakers, rear spoiler and tachometer.

CAVALIER BRAKES AND SÚSPENSION


Another standard feature that sets Cavalier apart is front disc/rear drum brakes with four-wheel antilock brakes (ABS). Standard ABS on all models adds to Cavalier's value because other competitors in this price range don't offer ABS as a standard feature on all models. It's either an extra cost option or available only on higher-cost trim levels.
The standard suspension includes MacPherson strut front and trailing twist-beam rear with coil-over-shock corners that help provide a smooth ride and excellent driver control.
Cavalier Z24 Coupe boasts a more aggressive suspension befitting its sportier demeanor. The Z24 has shaped inner-metal bushings on front lower control arms, higher-rate front and rear springs, stiffer shocks and struts, and a larger front stabilizer bar. This combination helps provide a firm ride, yet sportier feel and better handling than the base suspension design.

CAVALIER WHEELS AND TIRES

SPECIAL CAVALIER BI-FÚEL PACKAGE

A special bi-fuel version of the Cavalier is available for both fleet and retail sales. It meets all federal safety standards and Transitional Low Emission Vehicle (TLEV) standards in all 50 states. The Bi-Fuel Cavalier Sedan uses the 2200 L4 engine and automatic transmission, but runs on gasoline and compressed natural gas (CNG). Its fueling system uses the CNG first, for an estimated 160 miles, then automatically switches over to gasoline, if necessary, for roughly 400 more miles. To accommodate the added weight of its fuel system, this Cavalier has an upgraded suspension system. Like all Cavaliers, it is backed by GM's 3-year/36,000-mile No-Deductible Limited Warranty and can be serviced at authorized GM dealers and facilities throughout the Únited States.
