1971 Citroen SM Maserati Navigation
The SM model was added to Citroen's lineup in 1970. It carried a traditional design reminiscent of the Citroen marque and the performance of a Maserati. The car had Citroen's air-oil suspension system paired with a Maserati engine and fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel disc brakes. The fastback coupe was priced at $11,700 and had a top speed of 140 mph. Citroen sold 868 examples in 1970 and 4,988 the following year. 4,036 units were sold in 1972. In the front were quad round headlamps that were recessed and separated by vertical dividers. In the back was a squared-off rear end with small fender skirts and a large quarter window. The 90-degree, dual-overhead-cam V-6 engine featured an aluminum block and head and produced an impressive 180 SAE horsepower. The wheelbase measured 114.2 inches, the length of 192.6 inches, a width of 72.3 inches, and a height of 52.1 inches.
