Mercedes-Benz at the 2017 New York International Auto Show : Two world premieres and two U.S. premieres deliver a sporting edgeFuel consumption combined: 10.7-10.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 244-234 g/km

At this year's New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), Mercedes-Benz is following seamlessly on from its dynamic appearances at the motors shows in Detroit and Geneva. Celebrating a double world premiere are the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupé (fuel consumption, combined: 10.7-10.3 l/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 244-234 g/km) as well as the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupé (fuel consumption, combined: 10.7 l/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 244 g/km). The only performance SUVs in the segment with a V8 engine pair amazing dynamics with outstanding everyday usability. Celebrating their U.S. premieres are the new E-Class Cabriolet and the close-to-production Mercedes-AMG GT Concept, which delivers the hallmark AMG racing spirit in a four-door coupé.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupé, and the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ SUV and Coupé occupy a very special position in the midsize SUV segment. They are the sportiest midsize performance SUVs to date to bear the three-pointed star. Powered by the AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo with 350 kW (476 hp) or 375 kW (510 hp, S version), they are the only eight-cylinder SUVs in this popular vehicle class. Further technical highlights of the midsize performance SUVs are the air suspension with adaptive damping, AMG's 4MATIC+ performance all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution, the rear-axle locking differential and the high-performance brake system. With the AMG Panamericana grille, a feature of the AMG GT family, the models establish a visual link to the successful AMG sports car.

Yet the new models also offer all the benefits of a typical Mercedes SUV: generous space for passengers and luggage, extensive safety equipment and supreme traction even on loose surfaces or in wintry conditions.

'Our new midsize performance SUVs stand as a symbol of the general development at Mercedes-Benz,' says Britta Seeger, Board Member of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing and Sales. 'Our sales curve has been going in only one direction month on month for the last four years – up. With a sales increase of 16 percent, the first quarter of this year was the best in our company's history. And we continue to work hard to ensure our line-up has the right vehicle for every customer.'

Mercedes-Benz reinforces its leadership in the USA's permium segment

Mercedes-Benz is very much at the top of the U.S. market and was market leader among the premium manufacturers in the first quarter 2017 – as it was in 2016, too. The brand sold around 80,000 vehicles in the USA in the first quarter of 2017, marking a sales increase of 4.5 percent against the previous year and a new best in the USA.

The new E-Class Cabriolet, which has its market permiere at the NYIAS, completes the E-Class family. In keeping with its sporty look, the fully-fledged four-seater offers exceptional performance and dynamics paired with a high degree of comfort for driver and passengers. With its Widescreen Cockpit and the very latest assistance systems, the E-Class Cabriolet is on the same technical level as the saloon. Powerful engines and comfortable suspension guarantee a luxuriously sporty driving experience.

'The new E-Class Cabriolet gives its drivers even more that they will love – and not only because it's 13 centimetres longer and seven centimetres wider is than its predecessor,' says Dieter Exler, President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA. 'It's hard to find a cabriolet with more space and comfort. And, at the same time, it's one of the most intelligent vehicles on the road.'

50 years of AMG – half a century of performance

The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept, which is likewise celebrating its USA premiere, heralds another milestone for the Mercedes-AMG sports car brand with features such as its high-performance hybrid drive. ' The GT Concept demonstrates that maximum efficience and outstanding performance fit perfectly together,' says Tobias Moers CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

The GT Concept's performance hybrid system combines a highly efficient V8 petrol engine with a powerful electric motor and a modular battery concept. It offers a compelling electric range and, in its latest iteration, can generate an output of up to 600 kW (816 hp). The GT Concept accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in less than three seconds, putting it on par with a super sports car. Yet the dynamic fastback also offers an extremely high level of everyday usability, complete with its large tailgate and variable interior and luggage space. The four-door coupé thus combines high functionality with the excellent performance of the AMG GT sports cars. The show car's look is defined by muscular proportions, large volumes and a sensual yet minimalist surface design.
