1975 International Scout Navigation

The International Harvester Scout II made its debut in April of 1971 and brought with it many improvements over the original Scout. In 1973 the 4-cylinder engine was no longer offered on the Scout, however, the energy crisis caused International to re-introduced the 4-cylinder engine for 1974.

The original version of the Scout was created as a competitor to the Jeep. The vehicle was developed and produced in a short time, taking less than two years to complete. The Scout line was introduced to the public on January 18th, 1961. The early examples were available as either a 2WD or 4WD version. The powerplant was a 4-cylinder unit offering 93 horsepower. They were equipped with a three-speed, floor-mounted manual transmission.

The Scout 80 was the designation for the vehicles produced from 1961 through mid-1965. The Scout 800 was produced from the late-1965 to mid-1971. The Scout 800 was followed by the Scout II, then the SS II (Super Scout) debuted in 1977. They were produced between 1977 and 1979.
