1979 Volkswagen Rabbit Navigation
Beginning in 1978, Rabbits were built in America. That year they received a 1457cc engine with an enlarged radiator. The Rabbits built in Germany retained their round headlamps, while those built in the United States were given rectangular units. In 1979, the Rabbit received a five-speed manual gearbox, accompanying the three-speed automatic. Powering the rabbit was an overhead-cam four-cylinder engine with a cast-iron block and an aluminum-alloy head. The engine displaced 1457cc and produced just over 70 horsepower.
For 1979, prices ranged from $4,220 - $5,200.
