The 1971 Fiat 124 continued with little change. The sedan and wagon both were fitted with an overhead-valve 4-cylinder engine that produced about 60 SAE horsepower. The coupe and convertible had a dual-overhead cam 4-cylinder engine which displaced 98.1 cubic-inches and produced an impressive 104 SAE horsepower. The final engine was a 98.1 CID unit which could be purchased on either the coupe or convertible. It had 104 SAE horsepower. The Sport Coupe had disc brakes at all four corners, reclining bucket seats, and an electronic tachometer. The 124 came with either a four- or five-speed manual gearbox. An automatic could be purchased for an additional price on the 124 Sedan and Station Wagon. Pricing began at $2,080 and rose to $3380.
