Prior to World War II, the Ford pickup trucks were car-based trucks. Ford introduced their new F-Series truck in 1948. It would initially be sold in eight different weight ratings, with pickup, cab-over engine, school bus, conventional truck, and panel truck body styles available.

The history of the Ford Pickup Truck dates back to April 25th of 1925. It was a Model T Runabout with a Pickup body and priced at $281. It was basically a roadster vehicle with an all-steel bed. It was 56 inches long and 40 inches wide. It was a minimalistic, utilitarian vehicle with the sides of the bed containing pockets for stakes. A heavier-duty option waas available from the Model TT which was rated at 1-ton and had an 8-foot long bed.
