1981 Oldsmobile Toronado

The 1981 Oldsmobile Toronado was the most expensive car in Oldsmobile's line-up, selling for $12,150 (nearly $2,000 more than the Olds Ninety-Eight, the next highest selling Olds in the line-up).

The 1981 Oldsmobile Toronado was similar to the prior year's model and came as a Brougham Coupe with seating for five. It had a front-wheel-drive system and an overhead-valve V6 engine offering 125 horsepower. A larger 5.0- and 5.7-liter V8 engine was available offering 140 and 105 horsepower respectively. A three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic was standard.

The grille extended the entire width of the car and the park and turn lamps were hidden behind the grille, below the quad rectangular headlamps. A sporty XSC package was available and 3,959 interested buyers purchased this option.

The Toronado came standard with power brakes and steering, air conditioning, bumper guards and impact strips, automatic level control, AM/FM stereo radio, power antenna, six-way power driver's seat, remote-control mirrors, tinted glass, digital clock, power windows and door locks, and cornering lamps.
