BLENHEIM, ONTARIO (20 November 2017) – The RM Sotheby's Group is delighted to announce that the Fort Lauderdale sale will return to the Florida coast at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, 6-7 April 2018. Celebrated as South Florida's premier collector car auction, the Fort Lauderdale event will now be held under the RM Auctions brand, and joins the RM Sotheby's Group's annual roster of global auction events.

RM Auctions' 2018 Fort Lauderdale sale, the 16th annual event, will become a two-day auction on Friday, 6 April and Saturday, 7 April, featuring a more curated selection of approximately 300 quality collector cars, ranging from American classics to European sports cars, muscle, hot rods, customs, and modern collectibles. Previously held under the Auctions America banner (the subsidiary was fully integrated into the RM Sotheby's Group last month), the 2017 Fort Lauderdale sale generated an impressive $17.3 million total with bidders hailing from nearly all 50 states and 11 countries around the world. The sale was topped by a beautifully restored 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster at $1,200,000, as well as the noted JLG Autocrib Collection, a group of 26 influential Porsche models offered without reserve.

Early highlights for next year's event are led by a single-owner 2006 Ford GT, chassis no. 401960, in exceptional, as-new condition with a mere 10.8 original miles on its odometer. One of the ultimate and perhaps the most recognizable American supercars, the GT on offer is finished in white and features three of the four options available on the model – racing stripes, painted brake calipers, and forged alloy BBS wheels. The GT is offered without reserve and is expected to fetch $300,000 - $350,000 when it crosses the RM Auctions block in April.

'We are thrilled to be returning to the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center for 2018, and look forward to growing the sale under the RM brand,' said Donnie Gould, Car Specialist, RM Sotheby's Group. 'The strength and global reach of the now larger RM Sotheby's Group will allow us to bring an even higher quality and more diverse selection of vehicles to Fort Lauderdale, while simultaneously exposing a wider and more international network of clients to the event. The extremely low-mileage Ford GT is a fantastic fit and a great early highlight for the auction, and one that we are proud to be offering on behalf of its original owner.'

The integration of the former Auctions America subsidiary allows the RM Sotheby's Group to seamlessly serve all levels of the diverse and growing collector car market through one auction house and one team. The company can now offer the renowned RM experience to more collectors and more cars across all price point and in new geographies—including South Florida. The RM Sotheby's Group has the largest, most international, and most experienced team in the industry—the only company that can ensure consignments are marketed to a truly global audience to achieve the best possible results. Auctions now held under the RM Auctions banner will present high quality collector cars for the entry-level enthusiast through to the seasoned collector, with average automobile values under $300,000. Additional annual events to be held under the RM Auctions banner include Auburn Spring and Auburn Fall, Santa Monica, and Hershey.
