1968 Ultra Van Navigation
The Ultra Van was designed by an aircraft designer named David Peterson in the early sixties. They were built, in limited quantities, in Hutchinson, Kansas from the 1960s to June of 1970. They had a monocoque structure and were given a body made from aluminum ribs with riveted sheet aluminum. In the front and the back were compound curved areas made of fiberglass. Power was from a Corvair, air-cooled engine offering 110 horsepower. It was capable of cruising speeds of 65 mph with an average of 14.5 miles per gallon. Approximately 376 units were built with roughly 100 still in existence.
