1982 Alpina B6 2.8 Navigation
The Alpina B6 2.8/1 was the successor to the E21 B6 2.8 that was based on the second-generation E30 3-Series. The B6 2.8/1 was based on the 323i and given a modified BMW 2.8-liter engine. Alpina modified the engine with lighter Mahle-pistons, updated combustion chamber, camshaft, and exhaust, and increased the compression ratio. A new electronic ignition system was installed. With the modifications, the engine produced 210 horsepower and offered 270 NM of torque. The engine was mated to a Getrag five-speed transmission and Girling disc brakes were installed. Modifications continued to the suspension which was given stiffer, gas-pressure Bilstein shocks along with shorter, progressive springs. This reduced the car's height by 20 mm. New tires and alloy rims were added to all four corners.Inside, the B6 was given a leather-covered Alpina steering wheel made by Momo, Alpina instruments, Recaro seats, and an Alpina gear-knob. Production of the B6 2.8/1 lasted from November of 1983 to July of 1986 with a total of 259 cars built.
