2016 Maserati Ghibli

2016 Maserati Ghibli
Sculpted forms and well-defined volumes connected by clean lines that create movement: the Ghibli captures the attention with its emphasis on sporty glamour and, just like the first Ghibli launched back in 1967, captivates with its strong personality. Notable features of the sleek silhouette include the front and rear mudguards, which merge into a single central form for a more dynamic overall line.2016 Maserati Ghibli
A nose with a strong personality
The car's nose is dominated by the distinctive Maserati radiator grille whose concave vertical fillets are inspired by the GranTurismo and the A6 GCS Berlinetta, a famous icon from the past. The grille's traditional oval shape becomes more rectangular and narrows at the top where it meets the front headlights, which make skilful use of LEDs to underline the car's strong character.

Sinuous lines create movement
Continuing along the side, past the three signature air vents behind the front wheels, two curvy lines add glamour before merging and giving way to the muscular rear mudguards. The triangular C-pillar, which sports the iconic Saetta logo, and the frameless door windows give the car the look of a sleek coupé in spite of its length and a wheelbase that is amongst the longest in the class.

To the rear, the twin tailpipes underline the car's sporty character
To the rear, the tapered design of the boot is the natural continuation of the cabin, while the two LED lights provide continuity with the mudguards. A sporty look underlined by the twin exhaust tailpipes and the vast selection of wheels available, from 18' (standard) up to 21', which speak the language of the purest Maserati style by integrating the Trident logo into the spokes.

Choice materials together with modern design and ergonomic controls
When sat in the driving seat of the Ghibli, you'll feel in total control: the ergonomic three-spoke leather-clad steering-wheel with controls for interacting with the main multimedia functions frames a simple but striking instrument panel. The large speedometer and rpm-counter have elegant white backlighting and are separated by a 7' TFT display that shows the car's dynamic data.

The soft leather on the seats can also be used on the dashboard and doors
The smooth, elegant lines of the dashboard and central tunnel immerse passengers in an atmosphere of pure elegance: the soft leather of the seat upholstery can also be used on the two dashboard side panels and doors to create original two-tone combinations that enhance the sporty feel of the interior. Not to mention the exquisite contrast stitching, the epitome of traditional craftsmanship.

COMFORTABLE ENVELOPING SEATS FOR ÚP TO FIVE PASSENGERS
The seats have a wraparound form, underlining the interior's sporty feel and guarantee top-class comfort. The optional all-electric front seat adjustment system makes it easy to achieve the perfect driving position in terms of height, depth and the angle of the back and seat. The roomy rear bench seat accommodates up to three passengers.

The Ghibli is powered by a versatile 330 HP 3 litre V6 Twin Turbo engine
The Ghibli's 3 litre Twin Turbo V6 is an engine designed to achieve even lower fuel consumption and emissions while still guaranteeing stunning sporty performance. The result is outstanding versatility in terms of use, combined with extremely impressive torque and power values: 330 HP (243 kW) at 5,000 rpm and, when the Sport button is pressed, 500 Nm available at engine speeds from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm.

Low consumption, sporty verve
Compared to the more powerful unit installed on the Ghibli S, this six-cylinder engine has specifically designed camshafts and injectors, combined with different turbine mapping and a customised electronic control system. These modifications have cut consumption even further without impacting on its response to the throttle. From a standstill, the Maserati Ghibli springs to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds; its top speed is 263 km/h.

New auto-adaptive transmission
The Ghibli benefits from the potential of a next-generation eight-speed ZF automatic transmission: lightweight, high-performance and a guarantee of precision gear shifting, it is controlled by auto-adaptive software that is able to recognise driving style and road conditions and adapt the gear changing mode accordingly. There are five operating modes: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Manual Normal, Manual Sport and I.C.E. (Increased Control & Efficiency).

GranTurismo handling
The key task of managing the Ghibli's handling is entrusted to the extremely sophisticated suspension system. The aluminium arms of the double-wishbone front suspensions are higher up for precise handling, while the five-arm multilink system used at the rear is ideal for reconciling ride comfort with sporty performance.

Next-generation steering
The servo assisted hydraulic steering system ensures optimum 'feel' at the wheel, with no annoying impression of artificial assistance when cornering at high speed. Specifically designed to make driving as much fun as possible, the Ghibli's steering system is light and smooth at all times, even when parking. This effectiveness in all situations is further enhanced by a new aluminium steering box.

A new concept in personalization for the sports sedan segment
The Ghibli is a car that places no limits on its driver's desires and preferences, revolutionising the concept of customisation in the sports sedan segment. The leather, available in three colours, is used on the front and rear seats as standard, but can also be extended to the side areas above the dashboard, the instrument panel brow and the door armrests to create an original two-tone combination.

HARMAN KARDON PREMIÚM SOÚND SYSTEM
For music connoisseurs seeking more power, more dynamism, and an extra dimension of emotional realism, the optional Harman Kardon Premium Sound System brings new levels of audio refinement to the Maserati Ghibli. With ten high-powered speakers carefully positioned throughout the cabin, the system produces 360 degrees of sublime sound reproduction despite the listeners` seating position. A special high-performance subwoofer handles the low-end frequencies with ease, whilst the mid-range drivers and tweeters ensure that every instrument makes its presence felt on this virtual concert platform.

The all-new Ghibli marks a turning point in Maserati's history. Únveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show and arriving just months after the new Quattroporte, the Ghibli will give Maserati two concurrent four-door sedan models for the first time in its history.

The Ghibli is smaller, shorter, lighter, more dynamic, less expensive and more economical than the flagship Quattroporte and provides a cornerstone in Maserati's plans to build 50,000 cars a year by 2015.

Its petrol range provides high performance from both of the power outputs from the twin turbo-charged, 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and it also offers customers the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive in an E-segment luxury sports sedan. (concept carz)

2016 Maserati GhibliThe Ghibli has a more-focused, sportier philosophy than the larger Quattroporte and its most powerful model, the Ghibli S, has 301 kW (410 hp) of power, races to 100km/h in 5.0 seconds and stretches out to a top speed of 284km/h.

The Ghibli is also the first Maserati in history to be powered by a diesel engine, with a turbo-diesel V6 producing all the sound, refinement and driving pleasure typical of Maserati while delivering fuel consumption below six litres per 100 km on the NEDC formula. The Ghibli diesel will also become the first Maserati with Start-Stop technology.

It shares much of its core architecture, including its crash safety, its chassis, its suspension architecture, its engines and its LED headlight technology, with the larger Quattroporte, though it is 50 kg lighter, 173 mm shorter in the wheel base and 291 mm shorter overall.

The Ghibli's design team was challenged to produce a sedan that emphasized its more dynamic driving characteristics through a more aggressive visual personality, yet still maintained discernible visual links with the Quattroporte.

The outline of the body reflects a coupe-like philosophy for the four-door sedan, while there are strong feline hints around the Ghibli's grille and headlights. The grille takes its inspiration from the current GranTurismo and it can draw a line back to the classic 1950s A6 GCS.

It also maintains Maserati's distinctive C-pillar treatment, which delivers much of the coupe-like stance and carries the classical Saetta Maserati logo, carrying on a tradition dating back to 1963.

The side profile is dominated by a swage line that runs from the traditional Maserati grille vents behind the front wheels and finishes in the rear lights themselves.
Inside, the Ghibli sets itself apart from the Quattroporte with a unique dashboard design that perfectly matches its sportier and more youthful character without losing any of the luxury expected from Maserati. The Ghibli also delivers a sporty design combined with all the spaciousness expected in an executive sedan from Maserati.

2016 Maserati GhibliThe Ghibli, the Ghibli S, the Ghibli S Q4 and the Ghibli Diesel all utilize an eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver their performance, providing seamless comfort with fast gear shifting for hard acceleration.

All Ghibli models deliver exquisite handling thanks to their perfectly balanced weight distribution, a double-wishbone front suspension and a state-of-the-art five-link rear suspension. It can now deliver the added security and all-weather assurance of all-wheel drive as well.

It also delivers new standards in quality in every area from design, development, fabrication and process controls. It is produced in a new plant that combines Maserati's traditions of craftsmanship with cutting-edge technologies that are able to guarantee outstanding quality by controlling even the tiniest details.

The Ghibli has entered the E-segment sports premium market with a marked advantage in cabin craftsmanship and detailing, including luxury features like the Maserati Touch Control screen, adjustable pedals, reversing camera, Poltrona Frau leather interior and the 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkes audio system, as well as WLAN-based WiFi and compatibility with most modern mobile phone systems.

The original 1963 Quattroporte invented the concept of the luxury sports sedan, the new Quattroporte continues to be the genre's benchmark and now the Ghibli offers all the Quattroporte's qualities in a more dynamic, more affordable package.
