1954 Lloyd 400 Navigation
The Lloyd 400 was produced between 1953 and 1957, with a total of 106,110 examples produced. It was a small car produced by Borgward Group's Lloyd Motoren Werke GmbH in Bremen and was the successor to the Lloyd 300. The LP400 was a 'Limousine / Saloon,' the LK400 was a panel van, and the LS400 was an estate. Power was from an air-cooled twin-cylinder two-stroke engine fitted with a horizontal-flow Solex 30 BFRH carburetor. It displaced 386cc and offered 13 PS. The top speed was achieved at 46 mph. The transmission was a three-speed manual unit, the steering was a rack and pinion mechanism, and the front suspension was comprised of two laterally mounted leaf springs. In March of 1953, the Lloyd 400's cable linkage for the drum brakes was replaced by a hydraulic linkage mechanism. In August 1955, the drum capacity grew from 180mm to 200mm. The majority of the Lloyd 400 cars were given Limousine bodies.
