1972 Ford Maverick

The Maverick was part of Ford's model lineup from 1970 through 1977 and built atop the Falcon chassis and powered by a 170 cubic-inch six-cylinder engine. Offered as a two-door sedan with seating for six, the $2,000 vehicle was immediately popular, with 451,081 examples sold in 1970. A four-door sedan and 2-door Grabber joined the lineup in 1971 but otherwise remained unchanged. The Grabber trim package added larger tire fitment, a spoiler, special 'dual dome' hood, and graphics. The two-door sedan was the most popular with 159,726 units produced, followed by 73,208 of the sedan, and 38,963 of the Grabber.

The 1972 Ford Maverick continued to be offered in 2- and 4-door sedan configuration with pricing beginning at $2,190. The Maverick remained unchanged from the prior year with power being sourced from an overhead-valve six-cylinder engine displacing 170 cubic-inches and offering 82 horsepower.

The Grabber edition continued to be offered to the public and equipped with the 302 cubic-inch V8 that offered plenty of performance in the two-door body style. The two-door sedan was again the most popular with 145,931 units produced, followed by 73,686 of the four-door and 35,347 of the Grabber.
