2017 Ford Expedition Navigation
Ford Expedition, which debuted in 1996, is the company's largest utility vehicle, with seating for up to eight. It's powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine also featured in the Ford F-150 pickup. Expedition offers capability, class-leading maximum cargo space in the extended-length version and the latest in advanced technologies – including available SYNC® 3.
Ford Expedition is a leader among full-size SÚVs for capability. The 131-inch-wheelbase version features three rows of seats and 130.8 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, and offers available towing of up to 9,200 pounds when properly equipped to provide customers with a truly useful full-size utility vehicle. The standard version sits on a 119-inch wheelbase – making it a little more than six inches longer than Ford Explorer. It features three rows of seats and up to 108.3 cubic feet of cargo space.
Expedition is engineered to be a technologically advanced utility that is easy to drive and offers refinement for all types of drivers. Its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 features direct injection and twin turbochargers, and generates 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. To maximize performance and control, it's equipped with a six-speed SelectShift® automatic with manual mode that allows drivers to use a shift-mounted rocker switch to select the desired gear.
Expedition continues to feature an independent rear suspension for a confident ride and great handling. The suspension allows for a one-touch PowerFold® fold-flat third-row bench seat and low floor height for easy loading.
Available continuously controlled damping allows drivers to select from three drive modes – comfort, normal and sport. Sensors detect 46 unique body, steering and braking inputs. By monitoring body motion, the system can automatically adjust damping in milliseconds. It analyzes the weight of the vehicle, steering feedback and road undulations, then reacts accordingly to help control motion so passengers experience an orderly, comfortable ride.
Innovative electric power-assisted steering gives drivers improved maneuverability at low speeds and better feel at high speeds – helping save fuel by operating more efficiently than traditional pump-driven systems. Specially tuned for Expedition, the technology reduces steering effort and makes for a more engaging drive.
Expedition offers more technology that customers really want. SYNC 3 provides an updated interface with capacitive touch screen – similar to tablets and smartphones. A new one-box search feature, with available navigation, allows customers to look up points of interest or enter addresses in much the same way they would use an Internet search engine.
Other features available for the 2017 Ford Expedition include passive entry with push-button start and Blind Spot Information System® with cross-traffic alert.Source - Ford
