Bendix Corporation (now Honeywell International) engineers built the car entirely by hand, with some assistance from off-duty Studebaker employees. Bendix created the name 'Steel Wheel Corporation' to serve as the car's make. Power is from an inline Continental 6-cylinder engine displacing 170 cubic inches and producing 86 horsepower.

The car includes an aerodynamic body design, air scoop hub caps for brake cooling, Bendix four-wheel open outboard brake drums for cooling, four-wheel Bendix hydraulic brakes, built-in ventilation system, and a Bendix Startix System.
