1995 Ford Thunderbird

In 1988, Ford introduced the tenth generation of the Thunderbird and it would last until the end of the 1997 model year. The base model was powered by a 140 horsepower engine which many considered underpowered for a car that weighed 3500 pounds. Ford quickly responded by adapting an Eaton supercharger to the Essex V-6 and produced the new Super Coupe also known as the Thunderbird SC. In the final model year, 1995, the Super Coupe offered 230 horsepower. During the final production year, just 574 examples of the Super Coupe left the Lorain, Ohio factory.

The 1995 Ford Thunderbird was available as an LT Coupe or Super Coupe. New standard features included speed-sensitive steering when the LX was ordered with the optional 4.6-liter V8 or with the Super Coupe's base supercharged 3.8-liter V6. The anti-theft alarm, engine block heater, Traction-Lok axle, and heavy-duty battery were no longer offered. A four-speed automatic was standard on the LX while the Super came with a five-speed manual transaxle. The standard engine on the LX model was a 3.8-liter V6 with sequential electronic fuel injection.
