1946 Divco Model U

The Detroit Industrial Vehicle Company was founded in 1925. In 1936, they introduced the Model U, which soon earned the nickname 'snub-nose.' The base of the Model U would remain in production for another 50 years. Divco began as a small Midwestern company that produced delivery vehicles until going out of business in 1986.

Divco popularized the standing position while driving the delivery truck. This allowed drivers to push the seat out of the way for quicker entry and egress from the vehicle, allowing faster deliveries.

This particular example is a snub-nose delivery truck, finished in cream and red livery of the Hatfield, Pennsylvania, company Rosenberger's Dairies. It was produced after the Divco factory had been converted from war-time use and is nearly identical to the pre-war models.
