In the 1920s, Midget racing emerged as an alternative to big car races. The cars were small and nimble and offered speed and maneuverability, resulting in very competitive racing.

This particular example is believed to have been built around 1938 by Orville Lane, the owner of Deluxe Motor Service, Detroit. The car was built using a Continental 4-cylinder engine with a 188 cubic-inch displacement and fitted with 2 Winfield carburetors. It is believed to have been built in four-wheel drive form. It is also believed that Lane competed with the car through the war years and up to 1952 when it was retired. The car re-surfaced in the early 2000s when it was acquired by the Tuckett Brothers. It then passed through several U.K. owners before it was brought back to the United States by its current caretaker.
