1989 Mercury Grand Marquis Navigation
General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford were all vying to dominate the full-sized segment for the American Market during the late 1980s, and the top-of-the-line Mercury was the Grand Marquis and Colony Park station wagon. Both were offered in two trim levels and could be purchased as a basic GS or the highly-optioned LS.

View info and historyThe Grand Marquis had entered production in 1975 and continued to 2011. It shared its rear-wheel drive Panther platform with the Lincoln Town Car and the Ford (LTD) Crown Victoria. The 1989 Grand Marquis had a $16,700 base price and came with a 302 cubic-inch overhead valve V-8 engine delivering 150 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. It was mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The only change that occurred this year was the optional clearcoat metallic paint. A total of 118,979 sedans and 8,173 station wagons were built.
