1983 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue Navigation
From 1979 to 1993, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue was an option package or model name used by Chrysler on its large sedans. In 1982, the New Yorker moved from the R-body line to the smaller M-body line. It remained an option package, costing $1,244. In 1983 it became a full-length model, and the Fifth Avenue name was added to the rear-drive New Yorker. The base engine was a 3.7-liter slant six, while the 318 cubic-inch V8 engine was the sole option. The three-speed automatic transmission was standard, as was air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power windows, dual remote mirrors, bodyside and decklid accent stripes, a digital clock, and tinted glass. For those seeking more, a $1,870 Luxury Equipment package added a V-8 engine, illuminated entry system, heavy-duty batter, electro-luminescent opera lamps, AM/FM stereo radio, 60/40 leather seats, power door locks, decklid release, lighted right visor vanity mirror, power driver's seat, automatic speed control, wire wheel covers, and intermittent wipers. 'Fifth Avenue Edition' script could be found on the rear-door portion of the padded vinyl top. The base price for the 4-door sedan began at $12,500. A total of 83,501 examples were sold.
