1929 Talbot M75 Navigation
Many are familiar with the cars produced by Talbot after it was acquired by Tony Lago in 1935. However, before this, there was the conglomerate company Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq (STD) which, between 1929 and 1934, produced the M-75. It was sporty and rested on a short and lightweight chassis. Power was from a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine fitted with a single carburetor and one overhead valve. During its production lifespan, approximately 200 examples were built, and most were fitted with STD factory coachwork.
The company began in 1896 when it was founded by Alexandre Darracq and named A. Darracq & Cie. It quickly earned a reputation for its racing successes. Darracq sold his portion of the business in 1912, and in 1922, it came under the care of new owners and was renamed Automobiles Talbot. The name Darracq continued for a time, with the competition cars being called the Talbot-Darracq. After a transition period, the cars were branded Talbot. After the company's financial collapse and liquidation in 1936, it was rescued by Antonio Lago and became known as Talbot-Lago.
