The Alpina B7 Turbo Coupe was first launched in 1978 as a full conversion for BMW's 6 Series platform. The 3.5-liter inline six-cylinder engine from the 630 CSi was turbocharged, fitted with a new ignition system, and tuned to develop 300 horsepower and 462 nm of torque. Other Alpina improvements included the upgraded Bilstein suspension, a body kit, Alpina multi-spoke wheels, and ventilated brake discs. Many were fitted with air conditioning, green heat-protective glass, a locking rear differential, Recaro seats, sunroof, and a five-speed manual transmission.
